About Mariposa Psychiatry

Welcome! I’m Marisol Torres. I graduated from USF with my Doctorates in Nursing Practice. I’m a dual certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner. I have 2 years of outpatient experience treating children, adolescents and adults. I have one year of experience working in an in-patient psychiatric/crisis stabilization unit as a registered nurse. Prior to my post graduate education, I was a pediatric RN for 7 years. While obtaining my PMHNP certification, I gained 6 months of intense exposure in substance abuse at Cove Behavioral health which is an accredited rehabilitation facility and a certified methadone clinic funded by the state. I also obtained more valuable experience at an HCA psychiatric hospital and at 2 private practice settings treating children and adults. 

I have completed the required DEA certification to treat substance abuse. I recently completed ADOS-2  training for Autism testing and will offer specialized testing in December. I continue to enhance my knowledge and am working towards being certified in Perinatal Mental health. I love to treat all patients regardless of their age, ethnicity, gender, religion, income or current mental health struggle! You will find that I deliver a comprehensive approach to mental health care with conservative treatment plans that work! 

I am collaborating with physicians and mentors with extensive experience in child and adolescent psychiatry, in-patient psychiatric intervention, substance use disorder and a variety of adult mental health concerns ranging from depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, insomnia and psychosis.
